In Times Square, TOSHIBA VISION Will Help Count Down to the New Year
With millions of spectators gathered in Times Square in New York City, and a billion more around the world tuned in on TV, the Toshiba Corp. will be center stage helping count down to the new year. As the final minute of 2015 ticks away, the iconic 60-second countdown will be displayed on a TOSHIBA VISION screen, backed by enhanced audio and pyrotechnic effects. The screen, where ‘2016’ will make its debut, is located high above Time Square and directly below the world-famous Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball.
In addition to the TOSHIBA VISION screen above One Times Square, Toshiba said that it will have eye balls on six other mobile LED screen throughout the area. Those screens will feature New Year’s Eve content and entertainment for the attendees gathered in the heart of New York, including hourly practice countdowns; musical performances from Carrie Underwood, Wiz Khalifa, Demi Lovato, Luke Bryan, and others; images from around Time Square; and other celebrity appearances.
The evening will also feature an appearance by Bill Nye the Science Guy, who will be on hand to introduce Toshiba/NSTA (National Science Teachers Association) ExploraVision—a science and technology competition held by NSTA and sponsored by Toshiba for school students throughout North America.
