Industry Sets Billion-Pound Recycling Goal
The consumer electronics industry Wednesday sat an ambitious goal to triple the amount of electronics recycling done in the U.S. by 2016.
The eCycling Leadership Initiative, launched this week by the Consumer Electronics Association and several industry partners, will aim to recycle one billion pounds of electronics annually by 2016, a threefold increase over last year's total.
Best Buy, Panasonic, Sony and Toshiba are among the partners with CEA in the venture. CEA will also be working with the White House-headed Taskforce on Electronics Stewardship.
