Behind the Mobile Electronics Certified Professional Cert
Retailers participate in the development of this general job description by indicating their own expectations of a given experience level within their own retail stores. As you can imagine that varies widely. The goal of the MECP general job description blueprint is citing a range of knowledge and skills that represents an employable and productive technician in most retail settings. It’s a snapshot of who retailers would want to hire at entry, mid or top level technician positions.
An MECP Education Committee comprised of industry volunteers who are regarded as ‘Subject Matter Experts’ in one or more areas of the installation discipline work on content development of study guides and revisions of all the MECP technician exams.
These are usually MECP alumni who have held MECP credentials for many years, often many of whom are current MECP Master Technicians. It’s an ongoing effort that ensures the content MECP is producing for study and general reference is reflective of what today’s installation technician should really know and understand at each certification level.
