I grew up in the 70s and have vivid memories of sitting in front of the television in our family room watching Saturday morning cartoons with my brother. We had one TV and a limited choice of programming. Thirty years later, my son has the same love for cartoons but a lot more choices.
He can watch cartoons on a television, tablet, laptop or smartphone, and he can choose the video source, such as recorded shows on our DVR, Netflix or live programming through our fiber to the home provider. Innovation in technology, from devices to content delivery, has provided him with the power of choice—of when, what, where and how he consumes video content. My son is not the only person embracing the variety. Recent research from the Consumer Electronics Association confirms that many Americans across diverse demographics are benefiting from their new choices.
