Intel's Executive Overhaul Under Scrutiny
Wall Street is monitoring the impact of this week's musical chairs at Intel Corp. Sean Maloney, who has headed sales and marketing and is considered a likely successor to current CEO Paul Otellini, is taking on the added role of Intel's chief sales and marketing officer. He had previously co-managed the company's mobility Group.
Under a corporate reorganization unveiled on Monday, Intel will consolidate all of its major product divisions into a new Intel Architecture Group. Maloney will share duties atop this group with Dadi Perlmutter, who will lead product development. All executives within Intel's components, development and marketing teams will report to the two men. Otellini will focus more on corporate strategy, the company says. The top-level changes come as Pat Gelsinger, a 30-year Intel veteran and senior VP of Intel's enterprise group, departs to become chief operating officer of EMC, the storage products company.
