Interest Growing in Smart TVs
The number of consumers planning to purchase a connected TV has nearly doubled since the beginning of the year, according to numbers released Friday by Parks Associates.
According to Parks' Consumer Decision Process: Summer Update study, 10 percent of broadband households plan to purchase a smart TV in the second half of the year, compared to six percent earlier in the year.
“Advertising campaigns from manufacturers such as Sony, Samsung, and VIZIO have boosted consumer awareness and interest, making connectivity a must-have feature for new CE products,” Tricia Parks, CEO of Parks Associates, said as part of the announcement. “Younger consumers especially want the extra benefits on their new TVs of going to the web for social networking and on-demand video or subscription entertainment options.”
