WatchGuard Technologies has announced the release of its top 10 information security predictions for 2016. Among this list, is the prediction of hijacked firmware being used to attack the emerging Internet of Things. WatchGuard’s security research focuses on new and emerging threat trends that it believes will be relevant in the coming year.
"The security threat landscape is constantly changing, as cyber criminals deploy old and new methods to expand their reach, exploit users, and gain access to valuable data," Corey Nachreiner, chief technology officer at WatchGuard, said in a statement. "To play better defense, we recommend following security best practices; training employees about threats and targeted social engineering techniques; and deploying the latest network security technologies so organizations identify security issues in real-time to address the majority of attacks we anticipate in 2016."
