iOS Seen Dominating Mobile Purchases
Not only did the share of online retail transactions conducted over mobile devices double from the spring to December, but over 90 percent of those transactions were undertaken with Apple devices. That's according to a survey released this week by RichRelevance.
The percentage of domestic online purchases conducted on mobile devices remains small- 3.74 percent- but it is rapidly growing, from just 1.87 percent in April. Meanwhile, 92 percent of those mobile purchases are conducted over an iPad or iPhone.
“The numbers across our retailing partners sites demonstrate just how powerful the iOS platform is enabling mobile web shopping and, while still below 5 percent in total conversion, mobile traffic’s doubling in eight months is a trend we only see accelerating,” David Selinger, CEO of RichRelevance, said as part of the release of the data.
