Like most of you, my mind is still racing from all the cool, new products introduced at the 2015 International CES – and the fact that I just couldn’t cover all of the 2.2 million square feet of exhibit space. It was truly an incredible show, and my thirst for seeing and learning something new was, at least temporarily, quenched. However, my desire to purchase the latest tech products has now kicked in.
The media buzz around the Internet of Things (IoT) has been intense in the past year, and I was anxious to get to CES and see if the products lived up to their hype. I was not disappointed. In my opinion, IoT dominated the show floor. Many attendees I spoke with gave endorsements for IoT products, and just as many were sporting connected pedometers on their wrists. It almost seemed that sporting a standard wrist watch was “so 2014,” and not worthy to be standing in the great halls of the CES!
Connected devices were in every nook and cranny of the show floor. If you can imagine a product being used as a connected device, some vendor somewhere had a demonstration of it. From connected clothing and jewelry to appliances and food, toys and diapers, keys and cars, virtually everything that could be connected was exhibited there. I can now safely say that the Internet of Things is going to change our lives in a major way.
