European firm Com One has announced their first foray into the North American CE market with the Phoenix Wi-Fi/IP Radio. The device is designed to free internet radio from its clunky PC restraints and create a wireless receiver that can pick up signals from the Web provided there’s a broadband connection and Wi-Fi router about. The unit is also eminently portable, weighing less than two pounds and measuring about 8.5 inches long.
Com One Executive Vice President Christophe Dissaux says, “Streaming audio is the wave of the future for radio. Think about it: you can listen to your home station while traveling, or tune in for news and weather from a destination where you’re headed.”
The Com One will run you $249. See www.com-one.biz for availability.
