Apple has authorized the sale of the iPhone 3G at Best Buy beginning next month, the retail giant announced Wednesday. Best Buy becomes the first retailer outside of Apple itself and carrier AT&T to carry either version of the popular smart phone.
The move, scheduled to begin Sept. 7, comes just as Best Buy has completed its rollout of the Best Buy Mobile concept to its U.S. stores. The chain also sells such Apple products as iPods and Mac computers.
The iPhone 3G will be sold at the suggested retail price of $199 and $299, Best Buy said.
