iPhone Overtakes Android In Market Share
The iPhone 4S put Apple into the lead in smartphone market share in the U.S., meaning the iPhone moved more units in the last three months of 2011 than all Android models put together.
That's according to numbers released by Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, as cited by Reuters. Apple's market share for October-December in 2010 was 44.9 percent, just beating out Android's 44.8 percent.
Apple earlier this week announced record earnings that included sales of 37 million iPhones, although the timing of Apple's quarter didn't line up completely with Kantar's survey.
