iPhone Sales Hit 3 Million in First Month
Monday marked the one-month anniversary of the iPhone 3G’s release, and sales-wise, it’s been a huge success by any measure. According to an analyst quoted by Fortune magazine, the company has sold more than 3 million of the devices since they went on sale July 11.
Michael Cote of the Cote Collaborative cited “unprecedented demand” for the devices, which most analysts had predicted would take a full quarter to sell 3 million. Apple did not comment on the reported figure.
The original iPhone, Fortune said, took 74 days to even sell one million units, a milestone achieved by the second edition in its opening weekend.
