Not one to shy away from dominating a premium market, Bose is jumping headfirst into a new line of Alexa-powered smart devices that start at an eye-watering $400.
The move is not uncommon as many third-party manufacturers are riding the wave of success from smart-speakers. Bose's maneuver feels a bit more ambitious as they approach the upper-price tier against OEM Apple/Amazon/Google speakers, but their product line continue to climb in price and size.
With the launch, Bose is pushing a traditional 8-inch tall Home Speaker 500 that boasts a few buttons for controlling songs and switching playlists, as well as a screen and display for album art. In the same portfolio, two soundbars - aptly named the Soundbar 500 and Soundbar 700 - are stylized with a tempered glass top and come equipped with a universal remote control to bring home the entire entertainment system.
