To help retailers create their own promotions and local advertising, manufacturers provide an assortment of marketing materials. These come in the form of product images, feature-benefit statements, web banners and Flash demos, POP material and other collateral. In recent years it has become popular to make these materials available to retailers via a password protected extranet. Some suppliers have done a terrific job in this area while others are still learning.
The important thing here is this: even the most advanced, most desirable, most technologically innovative product in the world will not sell unless consumers know about it. Without advertising, great products die on the vine.
