iTunes Passes Best Buy, Now #2 Music Retailer in U.S.
In an indication of the massive changes that have come to the music industry in recent years, Apple’s iTunes Store has overtaken Best Buy to become America’s #2 music retailer. Wal*Mart retains the #1 spot, according to NPD Group statistics cited by AppleInsider.com
iTunes had taken over the #3 spot last summer, when it overtook Amazon.com; it first cracked the Top Ten in 2005 by passing the once-dominent but since-shuttered Tower Records.
