Jacksonville Getting the DTV Jump? Not So Fast
Is Jacksonville getting an early start on the analog signal shutoff? Despite media reports and the reported comments of a Florida Congressman, it appears not.
According to the Florida Times Union on its Web site, Jacksonville.com, local television executives were “sent scrambling” after an industry publication quoted Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) as suggesting that Jackonsville should be the second “early test” market for the transition. Wilmington, N.C., has already agreed to become the first test market.
However, TV executions in the Northern Florida city denied that such a move was under consideration, and Stearns, the paper said, issued a statement denying the story.
