Japanese Companies' Sales Reports
Sony Corp.'s consolidated sales and operating revenue for the second quarter ending September 30 increased 3.8 percent to $15.695 billion for the three months ending September 30. Operating income declined 13.7 percent to $561 million. Sony saw sales increases in all segments except for games and music. Games decreased 14 percent; music sales decreased 16 percent.
Sharp Corp.'s overall consolidated net sales for the six months ending September 30 rose 6.9 percent to ¥433 billion. Hurt by the still-strong yen, overseas net sales declined 4.9 percent, while domestic net sales rose 18 percent.
