The range of smart home products entering the market today range in their level of sophistication. It could be argued that part of the problem with the lagging adoption rates of the technology is the fact that much of it skews towards the more sophisticated side of the scale. Entry level smart home products provide a real attainable level of connectedness that consumer can gravitate towards. That’s exactly what Jeeo is hoping consumers will do as the brand launches its first line of smart home products.
Introduced at CE Week 2018, Jeeo’s new line includes a range of smart plugs and lightbulbs that are voice control-enabled. The launch also includes a new Jeeo Smart Home App available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
“Our mission at Jeeo is to make today’s connected homes even more useful by offering control over multiple smart home devices in every room,” said Sung Choi, vice president of marketing at Jeeo. “Rather than focusing on a single smart home segment, our strategy is to quickly expand our product offering with a portfolio of smart home devices including smart doorbells, cameras, smart locks, smart ovens, smart robot vacuums and more all unified by one app. Additionally, every product will offer voice control to make it second-nature to turn on lights, cook a meal in the oven or cool your family room just by asking.”
Jeeo demonstrated its new products at its booth during CE Week. The setup, which included a Google Home speaker and Westinghouse Google Assistant-enabled TV, resembled a simple living room, complete with a fan plugged into a Jeeo Smart WiFi Plug, and a lamp with Jeep’s Smart WiFi LED Light Bulbs.
The products have a lot of the basic features that you’d expect to see in similarly-produced smart home devices. The smart plugs (which come in a standard and Plug+ model) give the user app and voice control over powering the plugged in device, and a count down and timer. The Plug+ version offers additional power management features to monitor energy use. And the Smart WiFi LED Bulbs are dimmable and offer color customization—including a circadian mode that dynamically adjusts the lighting intensity, color, and temperature to mimic the rising and setting of the sun.
All off Jeeo’s smart home products are designed to work with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control, and Jeeo said that they are working to develop HomeKit support for their products as well. The line will become available in July 2018 through the Jeeo Online Store, the Amazon Marketplace, and at select national retailers.
