Jem’s Xtreme to Market Energizer Smart Home Line
Jem Accessories, parent company of Xtreme Cables, has announced a licensing partnership with Energizer Brands whereby it will produce and market a line of Energizer-branded plug-and-play smart home products.
The agreement covers the U.S., Canada and Mexico, and will span a broad array of connected-home product categories including hub-free Wi-Fi-enabled cameras, thermostats, plugs, sensors and speakers – all of which will be controllable via the Energizer Connect smartphone app. Some of the devices will also be compatible with Amazon’s Alexa, Google Home and Apple HomeKit.
Elie Chemtob, CEO of Jem and Xtreme, told Dealerscope that the Energizer line would be Xtreme’s premium connected-home brand, joining the existing Simple Home brand in the market, with a targeted January arrival at retail; first categories to be available would likely be light bulbs and smart plugs, to be followed by a doorbell system and a 360-degree camera, he said. “Lighting is a huge category, and it’s a hidden gem in this agreement,” he pointed out. “There is growing interest among consumers for products that add utility and convenience to their lives,” added Gene Kelsey, Xtreme’s chief marketing officer. “But the challenge has been to communicate to them the benefits of smart home - and with programmable bulbs, they can easily start to realize the value.”
