Thiel Audio Founder Jim Thiel Dies
Jim Thiel, who co-founded Thiel Audio in 1976 and grew the company into one of the leading providers of loudspeakers, died last week at the age of 61, the company announced Friday.
“The industry has lost a legend," CEA President/CEO Gary Shapiro said in a statement. "Jim was a brilliant engineer, a sound scientist, a rock of reason and a genuinely decent human being. I will always remember visiting THIEL in Kentucky and seeing first hand Jim's passion for quality in speaker design and construction and his love of great sound.”
Thiel's family has requested that donations be made in his name to the Rosenberg Integrative Cancer Treatment and Research Institute in Del Ray Beach, Fla.
