JLab Audio is going broader with new product options in a strategy designed to solidify its position in the market as a definitive supplier of affordably priced under-$100 true wireless earbuds.
Three models are available for preorder now on the company web site, and are slated to become available in mid-June at Best Buy and Amazon.com. They are in the JBuds Air Earbud series: the JBuds Air Sport ($69.99), the JBuds Air Executive ($69.99) and the JBuds Air Icon ($59.99).
JLab Audio has carved a foothold in this category due to its focus on pushing the envelope in battery life and on getting price points to the level where consumers are willing to try true wireless technology with very little strain on their budgets, according to Terra Teat, vice president of marketing. With that, the earbuds line is endowed with a generous feature roster. All models offer an integrated charging cable in the case, and Auto On and Auto Connect functions.
The Bluetooth 5-enabled Air Sport true wireless earbuds are an over-ear hook design. They offer 40 hours of total playtime (six hours of battery life and 34-plus additional hours in their charging case). They are IP66 sweat-resistant, and their Be Aware Audio feature allows listeners to stay safe when jogging by filtering surrounding ambient noise, such as street traffic, through. Their C3 Calling feature works with dual microphones that aid when using a smartphone for calls - one mic picks up and cancels out ambient noise while the other transmits the user’s voice. The Custom EQ3 Sound feature offers three selectable settings: JLab Bass Boost, JLab Signature (bass with vocal emphasis), and JLab Balanced (normal to mid-range sound), said Alex Steel, communications manager, at a New York City event showcasing the new models.
The Bluetooth 5-enabled Air Executive true wireless earbuds are made for the traveler, and feature touch sensors, stereo audio and the aforementioned dual mics, Custom EQ3 Sound and Be Aware Audio. They are IP55 sweat-resistant, and provide 30 hours of total playtime (six-hour battery life and 24-plus hours in the case). Their CloudFoam eartips are designed for comfort during lengthy wearing sessions.
The Bluetooth 5-enabled Air Icon true wireless earbuds are an upgrade to the company’s JBuds Air model and offer a longer 24-hour battery life – six hours of playtime and 18-plus hours additional in the case. Custom DQ3 Sound and C3 Calling are other appointments.
JLab Audio is also in Year Two of a continuing partnership with Major League Soccer – a strategy that is bringing more awareness of the brand to that sport’s fans. “They are very tech-savvy, which is a great fit for us as a growing brand, as they are a growing league,” she said, noting that there are teams in 28 U.S. markets. JLab products are in use by players and the brand is promoted in the LED displays that appear around the perimeters of playing fields. Prominent players who are JLab earbud wearers and also social media evangelists for the brand include Leandro Gonzalez Pirez of the Atlanta United team and Kendall Waston of the FC Cincinnati team.
