Joe Brown of Home Entertainment of Texas Dies
Joseph "Joe" Brown, owner of Houston-based retailer Home Entertainment of Texas Inc. from the 1950s until 1999, died Sunday at the age of 87.
According to an obituary published in the Houston Chronicle, founded his company in 1957 and eventually grew it into a ten-location chain in Houston and Dallas. Brown sold his company to Tweeter as part of that company's rapid expansion in the late '90s.
A memorial service will take place at the the community center of the Hallmark (4718 Hallmark Drive) at 10 a.m. on Sept. 18. Brown's family has requested that donations go to the Alzheimer's Association.
