Study: Interest Mixed on E-Readers
According to a survey released last week by NPD Group, just under 40 percent of consumers surveyed expressed some interest in purchasing an e-book reader, while slightly more proclaimed themselves either “somewhat uninterested” or “not interested at all.”
Most interested said they were drawn by "the ability to buy and store multiple books," as well as features already available in the Amazon Kindle and Sony Reader. Meanwhile, 70 percent of those not interested cited that they prefer the feel of an actual book.
"Today's e-reader offerings are delivering capabilities that are in demand by consumers,” NPD director of industry analysis Ross Rubin said as part of the announcement.
