The BBP acquired 173 new members in 2000 and 103 new members in 2001, Reed said, with a total number reaching 556, including 1,450 storefronts and 96 banner stores, plus seven currently under construction. In 2000, Reed reported, the sales volume of furniture rose 40 percent in comparison to 1999, the appliances volume was up 37 percent and electronics 10 percent.
Reed defined BBP's strategic operations initiatives as employing technology to reduce the operating cost and focusing on these five areas of development: product acquisition, advertising, marketing, business programs and day-to-day operations.
