KEF: New Q, T, Ci Series at CEDIA
KEF offered CEDIA Expo attendees a look at its latest models aimed at both retail and custom distribution on opening day of the show. They included the new T Series ultra-thin speaker system designed for flat-panel TVs, its newest range of in-wall and in-ceiling speakers dubbed the Ci series, and the upgraded version of its Q range, using technologies extracted from its Concept Blade “statement” tower loudspeaker, shown last year.
The Concept Blade-derived and re-engineered Q series is “affordable and mid-priced,” said the company’s Johan Coorg. It incorporates KEF’s 11th-generation Uni-Q driver in eco-friendly cabinets with paper-based wood veneers. The new Uni-Q driver array uses a larger, vented tweeter mounted at the center of a new metal-cone LF/MF driver, said KEF.
The T series, taking its first market bows here, uses a Concept Blade-inspired large-diaphragm (25mm) vented tweeter and a new low-profile bass driver that the company said provides the performance of a conventional 75mm-deep four-inch driver but in the space of just 27mm. Models include: the T101/T101c small satellite; the T301/T301c large satellite; and the T-2 subwoofer, whose slim profile makes it suitable for placement near a wall.
