Clarifying HD DVD
Ken Graffeo wear’s two hats in the entertainment industry. First, he heads up the high definition group for Universal Home Entertainment, the studio behind The Bourne Ultimatum and Evan Almighty. Second, he’s one of the key evangelists for the HD DVD format. We cornered him before a Toshiba press conference to see what’s in store for the HD DVD format.
Dealerscope: We’re more than a year into the high definition disc “format war.” How’s that going for you?
Ken Graffeo: Our key objectives are to give the consumer a really good experience. The reviews we’ve been getting are really fantastic. Every player from the first to those sold today has consistency in being able to provide the interactive features which is very important to us. [Now] we’re announcing Web connectivity—so with all these milestones in such a short time period, we’re feeling very optimistic. This is a format that’s going to offer the consumer the next level of entertainment and let them personalize the movie.
