KENWOOD Releases Two New Multimedia Receivers with Apple CarPlay
KENWOOD USA announced that it will begin shipping two new multimedia receivers this month that will come equipped with Apple’s CarPlay interface. The Excelon DDX6902S and DDX6702S will retail for $850 and $800 respectively.
The receivers join a line of KENWOOD products that come with CarPlay and Android Auto support, but the two new entrants will focus exclusively on Apple’s in-car technology. That means they’ll work only with iPhones, and they’ll have Siri integration, which will be the user’s primary method for selecting entertainment options, using apps, replying to texts, and getting turn-by-turn directions, KENWOOD explained.
“We are committed to enhancing the connected lifestyle,” Tony Mercado, marketing manager for KENWOOD, said in a statement. “iPhone users have deeply integrated relationships with their devices, and extending the safe function of those devices in the vehicle is vital. Adding the Excelon DDX6902S and DDX6702S to our current flagship units lets us deliver that fun and functionality to more consumers at lower price points.”
