With the shipment of its latest home audio product, the Bluetooth streaming audio Model IK5BT2 Amphitheater, Kicker Performance Audio, a division of Stillwater Designs, adheres to a philosophy of sound reproduction that was born along with the company, 40 years ago.
“We’re a collection of musicians, car nuts and gear heads,” said Kevin Campbell, director of global marketing. “Re-creating the live-performance experience permeates the company. And moving into home audio from car was a natural progression for us.”
The home product line, launched in 2010, is being crafted so that it responds to consumer desire for clean bass. Campbell said that in its research, Kicker found that great bass reproduction in speakers made for portable devices was a feature that consumers felt was most lacking in products already out on the market. So the company decided to fill that market void with models that were more upscale than the majority already available, and to price them in the middle to upper range (the BT2 carries an MSRP of $299).
