The paparazzi were out in full force in New York City Tuesday to witness as global pop singing sensation Lady Gaga oversaw the official U.S. introduction of Monster Cable’s Heartbeats by Lady Gaga headphone line.
Joining Gaga on stage for the debut were head monster Noel Lee, artist and producer Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records. Dre’s own Monster-marketed headphones, Beats by Dr. Dre, were the first fruits of Monster’s collaboration with Dre and Iovine, who established Beats Electronics three years ago.
Gaga commented that the headphones, sporting a triangular, studded design that she collaborated on, along with “linguini” flat cables that connect to the earbuds, fully reflected her fashion and lifestyle sense. But beyond their look, she said, she was most impressed with their sound quality. “I’m working on a new album release and when I take away the demos, I’m unable to listen without using our headphones. Especially in the digital era, with music being squashed, they make a difference. You can download a file, but you can’t download a lifestyle.”
