LED Meets LCD as Philips’ Latest Ambilight TVs Go ‘Green’
Philips said its 2007 lineup of Ambilight LCD flat-panel TVs, ranging from 32-inch through 52-inch screen sizes, has been “green-tweaked” with LED technology.
The company has converted the means of achieving Ambilight’s unique halo effect, which rings the screen, from CCFL to more energy-efficient LED lighting. In addition, the Ambilight effect now can be switched on independently of the television for a night-light effect.
The new Ambilight sets also feature a 6,500-degree Kelvin temperature setting for static, cool backlighting.
