"Let's Not Worry About Model Numbers and Price"
Home Theater Store sales staffers are rewarded for passing off qualified projects to GEL staff, who can be found at the retail locations. They get compensated for a portion of the GEL commission, and usually sit in on a couple of meetings at the start of the project to polish their skills. GEL projects are usually big-time. Mody describes an example of an eight-bedroom home where the owner wants temperature control, the ability to open the front gate from the office, a videoconferencing system, and so on. GEL provides comprehensive services: design consultation, architectural design and rendering, lighting design, project management, installation services for integrated and standalone projects, acoustical treatment, engineering, programming, automation and, of course, integration.
GEL doesn't just work on residential projects, it also does work for corporations. Mody says the fact that GEL personnel can videoconference with other offices and with outside consultants has resulted in some customers, both residential and corporate, asking for GEL to set up videoconferencing systems for them, too.
Once his staff starts investigating a project and delivers plans to the customer, rarely does the customer decide to go elsewhere, says Mody. Once he delivers the plans, he never has a situation where the customer decides to look for other bids, although the customer is free to take the blueprints elsewhere.
