During the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, LG had a very prominent message about the connected home, namely Artificial Intelligence (AI). Their newest advancement is a smart learning algorithm dubbed ThinQ and, in a nutshell, begins learning about consumers and how they connect everything in their home.
Underscoring all that is an announcement that Control4's Simple Device Discovery Protocol (SDDP) technology will be a part of LG's philosophy to connect a home seamlessly. LG is adding the protocol to their line 2018 line of OLED and Super UHD TVs

Products like flat-panel TVs, projectors, audio/video receivers, security cameras, alarm panels, and other network-aware products can be integrated into consumers' smart and connected homes via Control4 technology. With SDDP, the Control4 home automation system automatically finds, identifies, authenticates, adds and connects the SDDP-enabled devices nearly instantaneously during initial installation and set-up – reducing the complexity and configuration time for Control4 installers, and reducing potential incompatibility with other devices.
ThinQ will also act as an advanced image processor in its newest LG smart TV lineup, including OLED and SUPER UHD TVs. LG ThinQ allows the implementation of hundreds of voice requests utilizing the company’s own webOS smart TV platform as well as third-party AI services.
LG’s 2018 OLED (including the LG SIGNATURE OLED W8 “Picture on Wall” and E8 “Picture on Glass” series) and SUPER UHD TVs support Advanced HDR by Technicolor, building on a legacy of supporting all major HDR formats – from the premium Dolby Vision to HDR10 and HLG.
