LG Display Reportedly Reaches LCD Panel Deal with Samsung
That old saying about keeping your friends close and enemies closer might well be in play with Samsung and LG with their latest deal.
After a potential deal with Sakai Display fell through the cracks, Samsung has turned to LG Display Co., a division of LG, to help supply them with LCD displays for their TVs as early as this year. According to a Bloomberg report, the pact will replace the deal between Sharp and Foxconn Technology Group (both of which control Sakai Display Products) as the main suppliers to Samsung, the world’s biggest TV maker.
What makes the potential deal even more noteworthy is that this would be the first time the South Korean rivals have ever done any kind of business together involving panels.
