LG Drops Pricing and Availability Info for 2020 NanoCell TVs
LG 4K and 8K UHD NanoCell TVs have just received pricing (for all but one) and availability. The 12 TVs fall into three categories: LG Nano90 Series, LG Nano85 Series, and LG Nano81 Series, all with varying sizes. The 4K TVs range in price from $599 55-inch Nano81 to the $3,299 large-screen 86-inch class Nano90 4K UHD model which was a CES 2020 Innovation Award winner. The two 8K options come in at $3,499 for the 65-inch and $4,999 for the 75-inch. The entire lineup will make staggering launches throughout the year starting this month.
Because LG's 2020 8K NanoCell TVs exceed the industry requirements for 8K Ultra HD TVs as defined by the Consumer Technology Association, they’ll be among the first to sport the CTA 8K Ultra HD logo. The stunning picture is all thanks to a layer of one-nanometer sized particles that filter out impurities resulting in natural, lifelike color. The Nano 90 and Nano 99 series take it a step further with Full Array Local Dimming to divide the backlighting into smaller blocks, for more precise control, to improve black levels and overall contrast.
WIth the exception of the Nano81 series, LG’s NanoCell TVs support all major HDR formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR 10 and HLG as well as Dolby Atmos. Additional technologies designed to enhance the viewing experience, specifically for movies, sports and games, include the UHD Alliance's Filmmaker Mode and the HDR Gaming Interest Group's (HGiG) HDR gaming profile. The Nano99 and Nano 91 series also include auto low-latency mode (ALLM) for smooth performance.
Viewers can also take advantage of Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant and built-in support for AirPlay2 and HomeKit. They’ll be able to access a variety of popular apps and services including Apple TV, Disney+, Netflix, LG Channels and the newly-added Movies Anywhere app-- all of which can be accessed with hand gestures or voice commands through LG’s magic remote.
