With CES 2019 just around the corner and a host of new TV introductions slated to occur, Summit Wireless Technologies—a founding member of the Wireless Speaker and Audio Association (WiSA)—announced a global collaboration with LG Electronics. With the collaboration, LG will leverage Summit technology and the WiSA Certification to make their 2019 line of OLED and UHD LCD TVs WiSA Ready and compatible with WiSA USB Transmitters, to go along with a range of certified speakers and other wireless home theater A/V components.
The collaboration is expected to span nine new series of TVs that LG will unveil at CES 2019, the companies explained in a press release. By integrating Summit’s technology into their TVs, LG enables consumers to seamlessly sync hi-fidelity sound through a range of compliant audio components—from brands like Klipsch, Bang & Olufsen, Axiim, and Enclave Audio—with LG’s famously strong video technology.
“Intelligent TVs are the centerpiece of today’s next generation home entertainment systems and audio is essential to the overall experience,” Tim Alessi, senior director, product marketing at LG Electronics, said in the statement. “With WiSA Ready displays, we recognize the tremendous benefits that consumers will enjoy in taking advantage of truly immersive, wireless sound that complements all kinds of big screen home entertainment from movies and video to games, esports, and more.”
