LG Electronics Announces Latest Broadcast Transmission Developments
LG Electronics USA has announced the latest capabilities of the ATSCO 3.0 Standard following field tests in Cleveland. As part of an experimental broadcast license from the FCC, Tribune Broadcasting's WJW-TV is providing a TV transmitter, tower and 6-MHz channel for the field-testing for the ATSC 3.0-related field being conducted in Cleveland since mid-May.
In collaboration with Zenith R&D Lab and Gates Air, LG Electronics believes these field tests represent a milestone for 4K Ultra HDTV signals. The system, "Futurecast," is touted as a leading contributor in the effort to develop a next-gen ATSC 3.0 broadcast standard.
Dr. Skott Ahn, president and chief technology officer for LG Electronics, said in a press release:
