LG Electronics Dehumidifiers First to Earn New Industry Sustainability Standard
The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers announced that its new sustainability standard for household dehumidifier appliances was awarded to LG Electronics USA. LG's high performance dehumidifiers are the first in the world to meet the requirements set forth by AHAM.
LG's 70- and 55-pint PuriCare units (models UD701KOG3 and UD551GKG3 respectively), were the models identified as having surpassed the new AHAM 7008-2018 Sustainability for Household Dehumidifier Appliances after rigorous testing conducted by the CSA Group, which verified and issued the standard-compliance certificate. Specifically, CSA Group tested the environmental impact of the units in a number of key areas including materials, manufacturing and operations, energy consumption during use, innovation and end-of-life management.
In a statement issued by LG, the company explained that AHAM's new certification builds on a series of AHAM/CSA/UL product sustainability standards that help to identify products that are designed "with the environment in mind."
