With the rollout of the next LG smartphone—the LG G5—right around the corner, LG Electronics decided that its mobile user interface could also use a bit of a refresh. So, the company introduced its new UX 5.0, which it said is designed to provide a “more playful and innovative” experience with advanced features and greater convenience. The new mobile operating system will be available for owners of the G5 as well as other upcoming smartphone models as well.
LG UX 5.0 is based on the latest version of the Android operating system, Marshmallow, and provides a more user-centric experience, LG said. “We analyzed the lifestyle of smartphone users to provide a superior mobile experience and greatly expanded the usability with LG UX 5.0,” Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said in a statement. “LG UX 5.0 and G5 were designed to provide an innovative user experience that reflects the needs of our most demanding customers.”
Among the new features included in the updated operating system is LG Friends Manager, a “versatile application that enables users to easily connect with and control the modules and accessories known as LG Friends.” Long story short: it enables for easy pairing with nearby accessories. LG Friends Manager will detect nearby devices that can be paired with the LG G5, and download and install the apps required from the Google Play Store for the user.
