LG Partners with Broadcasters, Content Providers to Demo HD Content on 4K OLED TVs
A demonstration of HDR content transmitted to LG 4K OLED TVs will be the highlight of LG Electronics’ demos of HDR (High Dynamic Range)-enabled TV/broadcasting technologies this week at IFA 2015 in Berlin.
The content to be transmitted to the 4K OLED models was developed by British broadcaster BBC’s Research & Development department. It will be streamed by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which will use an adaptive bitrate streaming technology, MPEG DASH, also known as Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP. According to LG, this technology will enable HDR content the delivery of HDR content streamed over the internet via HTTP web servers.
LG and its partners will also demo the transmission of satellite HDR content using SES ASTRA’s satellite systems.
