LG Ramps Up Plasma Production
LG Electronics is betting on a new production process to help it speed up production of its plasma-screen TVs. According to a company announcement, LG will upgrade to “8-up” processing, which they hope will increase their plasma production from 360,000 to 440,000 panels per month. The change will be made at LG’s A3 plant in Gumi, South Korea.
“To accommodate increasing demand for plasma display panels, LG will maximize its production efficiency, especially in the second half of the year,” Simon Kang, head of LG’s Digital Display Company, said in the company announcement. “This is part of our ongoing campaign to streamline our production system.”
In addition, LG last week began major production operations for its 50-inch Full HD plasma TV line.
