Little Steps Takes On Baby Einstein
TOPICS Entertainment, a publisher of entertainment, language, reference and productivity software, is launching a new line of baby education products to directly compete against Disney’s “Baby Einstein” series. TOPICS says its “Little Steps” will retail for half the cost of Baby Einstein. Aimed at early child development and learning, the Little Steps line will incorporate graphical elements, animation and real-life footage.
DVD subjects will include colors, shapes and numbers, as well as more advanced subjects, such as simple math and nature. Through its partnership with the National Wildlife Federation, for example, Little Steps’ “The Wild Animal Baby” series teaches pre-school children literacy, simple math concepts and motor-skill development.
The series is available to major retailers, including Costco, Best Buy, Fry’s Electronics, Borders, and Sam’s Club, while “Wild Animal Baby” is available exclusively at Best Buy until June. Single DVDs retail for $9.99 and the three-box DVD sets will retail for $19.99.
