Starling says they are working currently "to determine if we can use
some of the extra databits that are not currently lit up in the iBuquity system—what is known as the extended hybrid portion of the signal—so that we can add radio reading services for the blind and give them a digital pathway and get it into mainstream receivers." Similar services exist in analog now, but special receivers are needed. Starling says it would be much easier to implement in standard HD Radio receivers.
