Lucid VR Raises $2 Million, Secures Critical Manufacturing Partnerships
Lucid VR, the company behind the pocket-sized LucidCam that is capable of shooting 3D virtual reality content, announced on Wednesday that it received $2.1 million in seed funding, and they’ve signed into a partnership agreement with Wistron Corporation, a top-five global original design manufacturer (ODM) based in Taiwan, to manufacture the product.
Lucid VR said that the LucidCam is the first device capable of capturing 3D, 180-degree videos that can be watched instantly on a smartphone using Google Cardboard or any VR headset. They’ve received investments from a number of companies including Wistron, S2 Capital, Lab360, TEEC Angel Fund, 17 Miles Technology, and other angel investors. Lucid VR said that funding along with the manufacturing agreement with Wistron will help bring the affordable VR camera to mass production.
The LucidCam is available for preorder now over on their website.
