Luxman America is aiming squarely at vinyl enthusiasts with the announcement of U.S. sale of its PD-151 belt-drive turntable. Its design, according to the company, is based on the Luxman PD-171A, which was introduced in 2014 and continues in the line at nearly $7,000. Jeff Sigmund, Luxman America president, explains that “the PD-151 is poised to introduce Luxman turntables to even more music-lovers” with a price point a little more than half that of the earlier model, at $3,895. The turntable received its international debut in November at the Tokyo International Audio Show.
The PD-151 offers robust, anti-resonant build quality, with its 10mm-thick aluminum top plate and 4kg (8.8-pound) platter. It further incorporates a DC brushless motor and provides three speeds of play with independent pitch adjustment.
