Major Appliances - A Year of Change
The 2001 Outlook
"Major appliance sales will grow in 2001 along with a strong economy," Friedman predicted. "Sears, with their 40 percent market share, will continue to grow along with increases from Home Depot, Lowe's, Best Buy, PC Richard & Son and Wal-Mart."
At Best Buy, Kielly forecasted "modest growth in the industry overall" and "a continuing reshaping of the retail landscape" as Lowe's, Home Depot and Wal-Mart expand. "…As Lowe's and Home Depot grow, pricing will become more important," he said.
