Major Appliances- Hot Times
Not so, says LG's Daniel Lee. The company recently hosted an event at its Korean headquarters, and stated that highly connected products like its Home Net system form the future of the appliance category. A system that unites all the appliances in the home into one controller and gives remote access to users, the HomeNet system, says Lee, satisfies a quickly developing demand among customers who "require information at all times," says Lee—admittedly not a cross section of the buying public.
"So right now, this sort of product is not for everyone," he says. "But we're looking very carefully at where the future of appliances is going to be and we want to meet it there."
An interim product, so to speak, is LG's combination refrigerator and television. "The TV fridge is a product we're getting a great reaction to," says Lee, noting that it's been on the market for just about five months. He says the product will soon be very accessible to the average family.
