Managing complex projects
To be fair, the hypothetical situation doesn't happen on every project. In fact, larger general contractors are beginning to come to grips with the challenges we face, and they tend to understand that it's to their advantage to inform us of any changes because we're one of the last ones to finish. After all, tie-ups on our end can delay their final payment, too.
I hope this gives you some food for thought and helps you understand some of the challenges our industry faces. CEDIA has been providing technical training for years and we are now focused on helping our members move to the next level in their business. I would recommend that you get some training on effective project management; there are some great books that can help get you on the road to happy clients.
