Market Opportunities - New Options for Home Network
When used with the new Universal ADSL technology, HomeRun can distribute Universal ADSL service to every phone jack within a home. HomeRun Home Adapters currently sell with Tut System's DSL products, through its service providers, at $199 per adapter. But retail HomeRun-based products are expected before the year's end.
Craig Stouffer, director of home networking at Tut Systems, said, "AMD incorporated our entire technology into an existing PCI chipset. The incremental costs of adding our home networking technology is virtually zero."
Rockwell Semiconductor has said its first product will combine home networking and v.90 modem capabilities. Tut also is developing a 10Mbps product and working on interoperability with HomeRF and IEEE 1394.
