Master Class Get Involved
It is important not to lose sight of your most important assets: your customers and their community. Stucky's has always done well by keeping our ears open to new opportunities. When a long-time customer approached a sales consultant about the need for a place to hold a PTO meeting for a local school and asked for the use of the theatre, the sales consultant set up the meeting.
As the PTO members entered the store, it was obvious many of them had not been in Stucky's before; it would be a challenge for our sales consultants. All members were greeted upon entering the store and offered free coffee from the Kitchen Café and escorted to the theatre. During the breaks, sales staff were available to give tours of the store and answer any questions. In the end, the sales consultants sold several big screens, started two builder deals—both of which came to fruition—and sold a variety of other electronics and appliances.
Similarly, when the local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts were unable to hold their meetings in their respective buildings, we offered the use of the theatre. Granted, scouts are not the age group who would purchase their products, however, their parents are. Some parents thought it a little odd to have a scout meeting in an electronic and appliance store. That thought faded after the first meeting, as parents were able to stay at the store during the meeting, enjoy coffee at the Kitchen Café, tour the store, try out the new bedding line or watch movies in one of the custom home theatre rooms. Within the first two weeks of the scouts' meetings, Stucky's gained additional customers who purchased items such as electric ranges, washer and dryer pairs and home theatre systems.
